How do you put silver conchos on a western saddle?

dryerlint1990 asked:

I recently won an auction for a set of silver western saddle conchos. I have no idea how to put them on my saddle. I’ve looked all over the internet for a guide but i’ve found nothing. Its a set of 10 pieces,(6 round pieces, 2 side pieces and a back piece).

It depends on where you are putting them…they usually come with Chicago screws to attach them to whatever you want to…it depends on where you are putting them as to how long the screws need to be.

So, you have a name plate (for the cantle)..that you will use the Chicago screw that came with the plate and use a small electric drill to put the holes exactly where they are on the name plate. Now, take your name. remove the part of the Chicago screw that closes it up, place and press it down exactly where you want it to be, and the open ends of the screws will leave the pattern imprint of where you will need to drill your holes…now, do the same thing with the corner plates, use the screws themselves that are attached to the back of the name plates to mark your drill holes…now, usually, the round conchos are probably designed to replace some leather ones that are already on your saddle, so look for those leather conchos…usually they will have a narrow strip of leather used to tie them on…sometimes all you have to do is untie of take those leather pieces undone, remove the leather conchos and replace them with the silver ones…hope this helps…
